BOISE, Idaho –
The Horseshoe Collective will expand its philanthropic reach to include Boise State women’s basketball, becoming one of the first women’s sports programs in the Mountain West to be supported by the efforts of a collective, the collective’s board of directors announced Wednesday.
The Horseshoe Collective, which was originally launched with the Broncos’ football program and has since also added men’s basketball, endeavors to raise awareness for local charitable causes by pairing them with community-minded Boise State student-athletes seeking to use their Name, Image, and Likeness to make a positive impact in our community.
Contributions to The Horseshoe Collective are considered charitable donations due to the organization’s 501 (c)(3) status.
The Horseshoe Collective’s board of directors includes Clint Bolinder, Torry McAlvain, Kevin McDonald, and Mark Miller. Former Boise State Associate Director of Athletics Joe Nickell, one of the architects of the Broncos’ nationally-recognized NIL program, is serving as executive director of The Horseshoe Collective, running the organization’s day-to-day operations.
“I am sincerely appreciative of the efforts of The Horseshoe Collective and their passion for impacting our Bronco student-athletes and community,” Boise State women’s basketball head coach Gordy Presnell said. “The opportunities this creates for the young women in our program are incredibly impactful, and will help shape our future successes.”
“From the outset, the leadership of The Horseshoe Collective has been committed to making a major impact on Bronco student-athletes and our community, and this is another positive step for both,” Boise State Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey said. “I remain incredibly appreciative of their efforts and am thankful that our women’s basketball team will now also benefit from the group’s passion for Bronco Athletics.”
The Horseshoe Collective was launched to bolster the NIL efforts of Boise State Athletics, which garnered the award for Best Institutional NIL Program at the Inaugural NIL Awards at the College Football Hall of Fame this past June. The Best Institutional NIL Program Award was bestowed to the institution that had shown exceptional commitment to supporting its student-athletes in maximizing their name, image, and likeness opportunities through a combination of education, resources, and industry-leading innovation.
“From the very beginning, the leadership of The Horseshoe Collective had set out to impact the Broncos’ women’s basketball program, and we are excited to have expanded our reach as quickly as we have,” Nickell said. “This group of young women is looked up to by countless individuals in our community, and we’re elated about the future engagement opportunities that will come to fruition.”
